About Creative Healing Counseling

Hi, I'm Ellen.

I believe all humans are naturally creative, and as a therapist I tap into my own creativity to show up for you. I have expertise and experience in helping support

I know that there's not a one size fits all approach to healing and we can creatively explore what works for you. At this time I only offer virtual appointments for adults 18+ who live in Colorado.

My Counseling Approach

My approach is grounded in my knowledge and training in:

Connect

Let's connect and work together to explore and cultivate  a stronger connection to yourself and explore your inner world together. Feeling anxious? Struggling to cope? Not sure how to describe what's going on? I'm here to help you find your inner alignment and connect with yourself. I always follow your lead with care and empathy in how we approach your struggles while honoring your own autonomy and choice.

Express

When words fall short, I invite you to explore other ways of processing your experiences on your own terms, through movement, art, writing, music, hobbies, film, or any creative form or experience that brings expression, joy, and connection to your life!  I've never been a professional musician or artist, but connecting and expressing myself to music, art, writing and literature helped my own healing immensely and I've seen others transform through expressive outlets and connection. The creative process we embark upon together is always your choice and never required.

Heal

Whether you're exploring your relationship with spiritual traditions or practices, navigating neurodivergence, stepping into therapy for the first time, or simply trying to be a human with everything happening in the world right now, our work can offer a grounded place to begin. Through both creative expression and traditional talk therapy, we move at a pace that feels right for you. The hope is that, over time, you begin to experience deeper trust, care, and healing within your inner world.

A Little More About Me

I consider myself a creative soul. I love learning, reading, writing, watching TV and going for slow walks. I really enjoy being in the mountains, going to movies, live theater, concerts and museums. I love watching the Broncos and the Nuggets. I most love being with my family at home and on various adventures.

My professional theoretical orientation is person-centered, relational, and secular.

I approach each client with trauma-informed practices which means I adapt to my client's unique needs of how we relate to one another, checking in with physical cues and adjusting to your needs for pacing, respecting your autonomy and collaborating with you in open conversations surrounding how therapy feels for you.

As a complex trauma survivor myself and going through therapy too, I know what it feels like to be a client and how vulnerable and scary it can feel to name and feel what you haven't been able to for so long.

I also have consistent consultation with other professionals and independent supervision by Ann Robinson of Two Rivers Therapy as part of my professional requirements. Between our sessions, I work hard to be updated and informed on the latest research in the field of mental health.
